Care & Maintenance

Proper care helps maintain the appearance and performance of your furniture over time.
ZHIMU HOME pieces are crafted from natural and premium materials, each with its own characteristics and aging behavior.

The guidelines below are intended to support long-term use, not to eliminate natural change.

Solid Wood Care

ZHIMU HOME uses responsibly sourced solid wood and veneers. Variations in grain, color, and texture are natural and expected.

Recommended Care

  • Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth
  • Clean with a lightly damp cloth and dry immediately
  • Use coasters and placemats to protect surfaces
  • Maintain stable indoor humidity (approximately 40–60%)

Avoid

  • Direct sunlight or prolonged heat exposure
  • Standing water or excessive moisture
  • Abrasive pads or harsh chemical cleaners
  • Silicone-based polishes or wax buildup

Seasonal expansion, contraction, or minor surface movement may occur and is not considered a defect.

Upholstered Fabric Care

Our fabrics are selected for durability, comfort, and texture.

Routine Care

  • Vacuum regularly with a soft brush attachment
  • Rotate cushions periodically for even wear
  • Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth

Spot Cleaning

  • Use a mild soap and water solution only
  • Test cleaners in an inconspicuous area first
  • Gently blot—do not rub

Avoid

  • Bleach, ammonia, alcohol, or solvent-based cleaners
  • Excessive moisture
  • Machine washing unless explicitly stated

Pilling, softening, and subtle color shifts may occur over time and are considered normal wear.

Velvet (Velour) Fabric Care

ZHIMU HOME velvet fabrics are chosen for their soft texture, depth of color, and refined appearance.
Velvet is a directional fabric, meaning its surface pile reflects light differently depending on use and pressure.

What to Expect

  • Shading, light/dark areas, and nap direction changes are natural
  • Temporary pressure marks may appear after sitting or shipping
  • These effects are characteristic of velvet and are not defects

Routine Care

  • Vacuum gently using a soft brush attachment, following the direction of the nap
  • Lightly brush the fabric to restore pile if impressions appear
  • Rotate cushions periodically for even wear

Spot Cleaning

  • Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth
  • Use minimal moisture—never saturate the fabric
  • Test any cleaner on an inconspicuous area first

Avoid

  • Rubbing or scrubbing the surface
  • Steam cleaners or heat-based tools
  • Harsh chemicals, bleach, or solvent-based cleaners
  • Excessive moisture or prolonged compression

Improper cleaning or abrasion may permanently alter the appearance of velvet and may not be covered under warranty.

Leather Care

ZHIMU HOME leather is natural and designed to develop character with use.

Routine Care

  • Dust with a soft, dry cloth
  • Wipe lightly with a damp cloth as needed
  • Keep away from direct sunlight and heat sources

Conditioning

  • Use furniture-grade leather conditioner sparingly
  • Condition no more than 1–2 times per year

Avoid

  • Household cleaners, oils, or saddle soap
  • Excess moisture
  • Sharp objects or abrasive contact

Natural markings, creases, and patina are inherent qualities of genuine leather.

Cushions & Padding

  • Fluff and rotate cushions regularly
  • Avoid prolonged use in the same position
  • Allow cushions to regain shape naturally

Gradual softening is expected and does not indicate a manufacturing defect.

Metal, Stone & Mixed Materials

Metal

  • Clean with a soft, dry cloth
  • Avoid abrasive tools or chemical cleaners

Stone & Marble

  • Use coasters and placemats
  • Clean spills immediately
  • Avoid acidic substances such as wine or citrus

General Use & Safety

  • Do not stand or jump on furniture
  • Lift furniture when moving—do not drag
  • Secure tip-prone items when recommended
  • Follow all product-specific instructions

Damage resulting from improper care, misuse, or unauthorized modification may not be covered under the ZHIMU HOME warranty.
